Your hosts Paul Mahoney and David Henderson both came from careers in the arts in the United States. Paul worked as a potter for many years at their farm in Mid-Coast Maine and David, an artist, working in paint restoration, murals, and decorative paint finishes both in the U.S. and abroad. For many years Paul and David hosted summer vacation renters at their farm on the coast of Maine taking great pride and pleasure in attending to the happiness of their guests and creating lovely inspirational living spaces. Now, in Sicily, Paul and David are looking forward to hosting new friends at their home "Casa Pergola" which is located just outside the medieval city of Caccamo on the slopes of Monte Rosamarina overlooking the lake of the same name.

Paul and David bought "Casa Pergola" in 2007 and have been restoring the house and reclaiming the once abandoned olive and fruit trees themselves, learning the local building techniques from neighbors and friends. The house is many hundreds of years old and at various times has been an olive oil mill, a weaving mill and a farm. In restoring their house Paul and David have been careful to preserve intact the rustic charm of the mountainside "casale" or country house, while introducing modern conveniences and sumptuous comfort. It is our goal at Casa Pergola to create a completely restorative and nurturing environment for our guests. We look forward to showing you all that Sicily has to offer.
